A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN SILVER AND ENAMEL SALT CHAIR, OVCHINNIKOV. The massive silver form repoussed with scrolling foliage against a hammered ground in the Pan Slavic style. The seat back with cloisonne enameled medallion bird decor and the finial set with a moss green cabochon. The skirt with dedicatory engraved date of June 28, 1916. Hallmarked Moscow 1908-1917 and stamped in Cyrillic P.Ovchinnikov beneath the Imperial warrant and with 84 silver standard. Height 6.5 inches (16.8cm) Width 4.5 inches (11.5cm).
