A RUSSIAN ICON OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL. On the left Saint Peter who holds the 'keys to the kingdom' and on the right Saint Paul who holds a cross of Martyrdom and the implement of his martyrdom, a sword. Between them at top Christ delivers a blessing. The entire image overlaid with a splendid silver repousse riza with attached gilded silver haloes. The riza hallmarked Moscow, dated 1849, Cyrillic makers mark ДО for Dmitri Orlov, and with 84 standard. The partially painted icon being later. 10.5 inches x 8.75 inches (27 x 22cm).
