A RUSSIAN ICON OF ST. ANDREW THE WARRIOR, 19TH CENTURY AND LATER. A full length image of the warrior saint in Roman military attire and holding a shield emblazoned with a cross. Overlaid with a composite, gilded silver riza with shaded enamel halo and corners, 2nd half of the 20th century, and bearing indistinguishable marks. The champlevé enamel plaque on the lower border identifies the subject as the Holy Martyr Andre the Warrior. 12 inches x 10.5 inches (31 x 27 cm).
