A FASCINATING CACHE OF PERSONAL ICONS AND OTHER ÉMIGRÉ RELATED MATERIALS FROM THE FAMILY OF GENERAL VSEVOLOD VICTOROVICH SAKHAROV, FORMER GENERAL OF TURKISTAN (1905-1906). Comprising six icons including an icon of the Holy Good Believing Prince Vsevolod overlaid with a heavy silver repousse and chased riza, 8.3 inches x 6.4 inches (21.5 x 16 cm); the Kazan Mother of God overlaid with an engraved silver riza, hallmarked Moscow, dated 1864, size 7 inches x 5.5 inches (17.6 x 14 cm); the Bogoliubskaya Mother of God, overlaid with a silver-gilt repousse riza, hallmarked Moscow, dated 1840, measuring 4.25 inches x 3.25 inches (11 x 8.4 cm); the Birth of the Mother of God with Deisis image along the upper margin, overlaid with a silver repousse and chased riza, 6.25 inches x 5.25 inches (16 x 13.5 cm); a triptych depicting St. Nicholas at center, overlaid with a heavy silver repousse riza, the left with the Archangel Michael and the right wing with the Warrior St. George, 7.1 inches x 8.4 inches (18 x 21 cm)-open; and another Kazan Mother of God (see following page) overlaid with a silvered repousse riza, 12.5 inches x 9.75 inches (31.5 x 25 cm). Together with a hand painted family coat of arms and a letter dated December 25th, 1922 from the Russian Diplomatic Mission of Constantinople to the Constantinople chapter of the American Red Cross, asking the Red Cross to provide whatever assistance they can to General Sakharov, his wife, his two sons, his daughter-in-law and grandchild, to help them on their journey to Belgium.Together with 84 Imperial Russian 5 Ruble notes and eight full and partial sheets of various Imperial period Russian bonds.
