A GOOD RUSSIAN ICON OF THE DESCENT INTO HADES, 18TH CENTURY. Here the Resurrected Christ is shown standing atop the broken gates of Hell reaching down to grasp the hand of Adam as Eve (lower right) exits her tomb, in the background, a gathering of Old Testament prophets and patriarchs are released from bondage. 11.25 inches x 9.3 inches (28.6 x 24 cm).
