A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE MOSCOW BOGOLIUBSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD, 19TH CENTURY. Probably a Palekh trained artist. At left, the Mother of God holding a scroll inscribed with the words which begin "Ruler most gracious, Lord Jesus Christ, my son and my God, hear the prayer of your mother…" To the right, a gathering of saints, including the Moscow Metropolitans, the Holy Fool, Vasili, Alexei Man of God, the Apostles Peter and others. Christ delivers a blessing from the upper right corner 12.25 inches x 10.5 inches (31.1 x 26.7 cm).
