A FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD, MOSCOW, 1908-1917. Naturalistically painted and overlaid with a heavy and extensive multi-piece gilded silver repousse riza in various finishes. Hallmarked Moscow, circa 1908-1917, Cyrillic makers mark SG and 84 standard. The outside raised border in stained grey silver, the halos in polished rose gold, the veil and garments finished with both smooth and textured surfaces as well as matt and polished gold and silver. The verso covered in velvet. 8.75 inches x 7 inches (22.5 x 18cm).
