A LARGE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE VIRGIN OF THE ANNUNCIATION, CIRCA 1860. The large oval gilt and incised panel with integral carved and gilded frame, the Virgin shown studying scripture at the moment of the Annunciation. Her halo with a border of seed pearls and paste stones and the background also embellished with tiny paste garnets. Most surely from the upper right side of the royal doors in Iconostas 25.5 inches x 17.25 inches (66 x 45 cm).
