A VERY FINE EARLY EMILE GALLE CARVED AND SILVER MOUNTED FIRE POLISHED FRENCH CAMEO GLASS VASE, 1894-1897. Of ovoid form with fluted ribs in gray opalescent glass internally decorated and overlaid with amethyst cut with a design of large blossoming iris and leaves under a fire-polished finish with wheel cut details below a conforming silver mounted rim with dental mold border and raised on a spreading quatrefoil silver foot. Inscribed on pontil "Cristallerie de Gallé à Nancy modèle et décor deposes". Height 9.25 inches (23.5 cm).
