A VERY FINE SET OF 12 ROYAL DOULTON FOR J.E. CALDWELL & CO. ARTIST DECORATED BOTANICAL CABINET PLATES, EARLY 20TH CENTURY.Each depicting a finely enameled scene of a different floral species on an ivory glazed ground with an elaborate raised gilt border of floral swags, scrolled foliates, hanging floral baskets and lattice work. Each artist signed lower center "W. Hargreaves", the verso with Royal Doulton backstamp, Caldwell & Co. retailer's mark and inscribed with the scientific name for each flower grouping. Diameter of each 10.5 inches (27 cm).
