A FINE DUTCH VICTORIAN SILVER AND GEMSTONE MOUNTED MODEL OF AN OSTRICH, CIRCA 1892.The sculpted and repoussed hollowed figure with single cut garnet eyes and hinged back cover suspending two woven silver baskets raised on elongated sculpted silver legs displayed on an enameled wood plinth. Stamped hallmarks include Minervas head with letter "P"(assay office), Date letter "H"(1892) silver mark(.934) and maker's mark "V.S.(over) C." Height 12.5 inches (31.5 cm). Weight 19.43 troy ounces (excluding base).
