A VERY FINE CONTINENTAL CARVED IVORY BATTLE SCENE PLAQUE, THIRD QAURTER 19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY DEIPPE AND POSSIBLY "JOAN OF ARC IN THE BATTLE OF PATAY."Finely carved in deep relief with a detailed and complex battle scene depicting foot soldiers with arms, horse mounted knights, assorted looters with goods, and a captive prince. The central prominent horse mounted figure which appears to be a woman, possibly Joan of Arc. Contained in a period glazed shadow box frame with conforming arched top with remnants of an old paper label with the word "Arc." The ivory 12 inches x 4.75 inches (31 cm x 12 cm).
