A CARVED IVORY TRIPTYCH IN THE GOTHIC STYLE, FRENCH, PROBABLY 19TH CENTURY. The central panel carved with the deposition within a Gothic arched niche. The body of the crucified Christ atop a sarcophagus and burial shroud as the Virgin, the Apostle St. John and Joseph of Arimathea attend. The left and right hinged wings carved with attending Angels of the Lord. Traces of polychroming and gilt throughout. Height 4 inches (10.2 cm) Width 4.6 inches (open) (12 cm).
