A MAGNIFICENT ENGLISH SILVER-GILT COVERED LOVING CUP, LONDON 1897, HUNT & ROSKELL, IN THE RENAISSANCE STYLE. Elaborately cast, well chased and tooled with a scene of bacchanalian infants in deep relief on a complex field of scrollwork, animated lion masks, grape clusters and foliage, and shell work on a stippled ground flanked by vine form handles surmounted with figural snails below a domed cover with matching scenery terminating with a sculpted lizard on grape cluster finial. Stamped hallmarks and further inscribed "Hunt & Roskell, Late Stork & Mortimer 1577". Height 15.5 inches (39.5 cm), weight 101 troy oz.
