A VERY FINE PAINTED WROUGHT IRON TWO SECTION ENTRY GATE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, ATTRIBUTED TO CYRIL COLNIK (1871-1958). Each panel of four vertical iron bars with arched top. Decorated with applied cut and wrought iron grape leaves on scrolling vine with figural iron grape clusters. Surmounted by a wrought iron armorial shield form. Height 78 inches (198.25 cm).

Cyril Colnik was an Austrian-born metalsmith who created ornate iron pieces from his studio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His skill in execution and appealing designs established a strong reputation. He was coined "the Tiffany of wrought iron masters." Some examples of his work can be found in Milwaukee City Hall, Herman Uihlein House, Charles Allis House and Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee, the Insul and Ryerson homes in Chicago and the Ringling Mansion in Sarasota, Florida.
