A GROUP OF SIX SPECTACULAR RUSSIAN PORCELAIN FAIRY TALE PLATES, KORNILOV BROTHERS, 1903-1917.  The cavetto of each plate beautifully painted with designs after Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942), featuring images from popular Russian fairy tales: Vassilisa the Beautiful, The Will of the Pike, Ivan-Tsarevich and others. The borders of three similarly decorated with the city crest of various Russian municipalities, two others with repeating pattern of animals and one depicting the countryside with wooden structures and animals of the forest executed in the Pan Slavic style. Each plate with gilt rims and gilt inner borders and each signed I. Bilibin in Cyrillic. The underside of each marked with the Kuznetsov Brothers factory mark beneath the Imperial Warrant and further initialed Bil 4/220, 11/220, 5/113, 12/142, 8/142, 2/220 and also marked with flag displaying a star and flanked by the Latin words G C SPECIAL in red, presumably the importer's mark. Diameter of each approximately 10.25 inches (26 cm).
