A GROUP OF 18 RUSSIAN PORCELAIN PLATES, KORNILOV BROTHERS, 1903-1917. Comprising six dinner plates each measuring 10.25 inches (26 cm), with the cavetto displaying an ornate strapwork cartouche inscribed with the Russian adage, The Great Russian Land, and Everywhere the Sun and painted with the coat of arms of various Russian cities including, Moscow, Kharkov, St. Petersburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Astrakhan and Pskov. The outer borders with decorative strapwork elements and the rims gilded. Together with 12 bread and butter plates, 6.25 inches (16 cm), the borders with strapwork decoration and also with adage rendered in Old Slavonic, Eat When Hungry, Love When Young. The underside of each with Kornilov Brothers the Imperial Warrant and each individually numbered and further with mark of presumably the importer, a flag bearing a star and in Latin G C SPECIAL.
