A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN EASTER EGG, CIRCA 1840-1855, IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY. The center section banded with ornate gilt silhouette decoration of garlands, swags and lattice work. Banded above and below in cobalt blue and the top and bottom gilded. With impressed oval mark of the Cyrillic letter N beneath a crown and the number I below. Height 2.85 inches (7.5 cm). Together with another porcelain Easter egg with applied decoration, the front painted with the Transfiguration and the verso inscribed in Russian, "Christ Has Risen". Circa 1860, unmarked. Height 2 inches (6.5 cm).
