Favr graduated from the Kharkov University and studied painting with his good friend Sergei Ivanovich Vasil’kovsky (Russian 1854-1917) – see lot #57. He exhibited at the Society of Kharkov artists from 1905-1918 and together with his artist friends Mihail Andrejejevits Berkos (1861-1919) – see lot #61, Nikolay Samokish (1860-1944) and Vasil'kovsky, was a member of the Kharkov Literary and Artistic Circle (1912-1919).
