A FINE DEDICATORY RUSSIAN ICON OF PANTELEIMON, MOSCOW, 1899. Executed on an ornately incised and punched background, here the young saint is shown holding a medicine box and an instrument. On the left border is painted the Priest-martyr Ermolai (Hermolaus) and on the right border the Venerable Evvoula (Eubula), who was the mother of St. Panteleimon. The lower margin with condensed and abbreviated inscription identifying him as, The Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon. The verso with two interesting dedicatory inscriptions. The first, "Blessings from the Spiritual Commission of the Moscow Embassy Church in the year 1899 to Hieromonk Panteleimon at the Petrov Monastery." And the second, "Blessings to my beloved son Nikolai Ivanovich Paporkov from Hieromonk Father Panteleimon Papor. Died in the year 1919 23rd May. Hier. Fr. Pap." 12.25 inches x 10.75 inches (31 x 27.5 cm).
