A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT ENGRAVED AND ENAMELED BLESSING CROSS, MOSCOW, 1908-1917.  At center is mounted a sculpted figure of the crucified Christ and champlevé enameled halo against an engine turned ground and radiating from the apex, a pierced mandrola. The center crossbeam terminating in trefoil ends set with relief sculpted medallions of the Mother of God (left) and the Apostle St. John (right), each framed in cloisonné enamel. The finial with an image of God the Father and below the feet of Christ the head of Adam also encircled with a frame of cloisonné. The front side of handle with openwork of scrolling foliage decorated in champlevé enamel. The verso overall heavily machine engraved and at center within a circular medallion an engraved image of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. Hallmarked Moscow, circa 1908-1917, with Cyrillic maker’s mark “PN,” and 84 silver standard. Length 15.1 inches (38.4 cm). Width 9.25 inches (23.5 cm).
