A LARGE RUSSIAN ICON WITH THREE APOSTLES, CIRCA 1700. Each turned inward in an attitude of prayer are the three Apostles identified by the inscriptions above their heads as, The Holy Apostle Andre the First Called, The Holy Apostle and Evangelist Matthew and the Holy Apostle Jacob (James). The size and composition of the offered icon would suggest that it was once part of an iconostasis (right side) Diesis tier. 26.5 x 20.75 inches (67 x 52.5 cm).
