A RUSSIAN ICON OF ST. SAVVA, MOSCOW, 1860. At top left Christ delivers a blessing to St. Savva shown lower right with the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery in the background. He is identified by the inscription above his head as "The Venerable Savva, Hegumen (Abbot) of Storoshev, Wonder-Worker." Overlaid with a silver repoussé and chased riza. Hallmarked Moscow, dated 1860, with obliterated maker's mark, and 84 silver standard. 6.75 inches x 5.25 inches (17 x 13 cm). (Unillustrated)
