A FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF SELECTED SAINTS, ST. PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1875. At center on the upper margin Christ delivers a blessing and holds an open book of Gospels to Mathew 25:34. Below are four finely rendered full length images of Saints Cosmas, Catherine, the Holy Apostle Aristarchus, and Damien, each with garments finely highlighted in chrysography and overall finely painted being reminiscent of the St. Petersburg workshop of the Peshekhonov’s. Together with a silver repoussé riza hallmarked St. Petersburg, dated 1877, and Cyrillic maker’s mark “MI" (not illustrated). 12.25 inches x 10.5 inches (31.5 x 26.5 cm).
