AN INTERESTING RUSSIAN ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD AND CHURCH FEASTS, 18TH AND 19TH CENTURY. The 17th century panel inset with various cast brass and enameled icons, at center the Mother of God of the Passion, at top center the New Testament Trinity, and around her ten icons representing different feasts and two related to Mother of God images. Such icons were often created as receptacles for family heirlooms (icons) passed down through the family. 12.5 inches x 10.5 inches (32 x 27 cm).
