A PAIR OF ROSTOV ENAMEL PENDANT ICONS, 18TH AND 19TH CENTURY. The first depicting the Miracle of the Archangel Michael at Khonae. Finely painted, the title inscribed on the upper margin, and the kneeling priest also identified by the inscription in his halo as the Venerable Arkhip. Set in a later silver-gilt pendant frame mounted with alternating sapphires and emeralds and with suspension loop at top. The plaque 2.8 inches x 2.2 inches (7.4 x 5.5 cm). Together with an icon of the Resurrection, the verso dated 18th May 1877. 3.5 inches (8.5 cm).
