A RUSSIAN GILT BRASS AND PAINTED PROCESSIONAL CROSS, 19TH CENTURY. The large cross form with pierced openwork borders, at center the cross form engraved with faux wood grain and painted with the crucified Christ. At top an engraved medallion painted with God the Father and the central cross beam terminating with engraved medallion portraits of the Mother of God (left) and the Apostle John (right). The verso extensively engraved with impliments of the Passion and the verso engraved in Slavonic, "We venterate your cross, O Lord." Base with ball finial receptical for processional pole. 29.5 inches x 18 inches (75 x 46 cm).
