A PAIR OF RUSSIAN KUSTAR POLYCHROME WOOD BOXES, CIRCA 1890. The hinged lid of both with pyrogravure winter troika scenes and one with extensive monastery depicted in the background. Both with locking devices. Seriev Posad workshops. Greatest size 9 inches (22.5 cm). Together with a finely crafted oval octagon-sided lidded box with brass and marquetry inlaid troika scene on the lid, circa 1880. Greatest size 9.75 inches (25 cm).
