A RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND ENAMELED TRIPTYCH. The central panel painted with an image of the Tolgskaya Mother of God framed within a border of shaded and cloisonné enameled flower heads beneath an overhanging ogee arched finial painted with Christ and mounted with a cross. The left wing painted with the Guardian Angel and the right wing painted with the Archangel Michael, both within arched reserves, framed and enamel borders. The back of the wings with medallion reserves painted with the Roman centurion Longinus (left) and Theodor Stratelates (right) and with folding latch device. The verso of central panel undecorated and bearing a spurious maker's mark for Khlebnikov, and spurious hallmark for Moscow, and date of 1877. Contemporary. 7.3 inches x 7.6 inches (18.6 x 19.4 cm).
