A PROVINCIAL RUSSIAN ICON OF THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST, NORTHWEST RUSSIAN, CIRCA 1600. At top center God the Father looks down upon His highly favored son who stands in the Jordan River as John the Forerunner baptizes Him and as angels of the Lord look on from the river bank at left. The panel reduced (thinned). 20.25 inches x 16.25 inches (51.5 x 41 cm).
