A RARE WWI AIR SERVICE RELATED ORIGINAL PHOTO ALBUM AND SCRAPBOOK WITH THEATER MADE INSIGNIA, CIRCA 1917-1919. Comprising a period photo album filled with dozens and dozens of original service photographs of Iowa WWI/Mexican service veteran (military band), Cpl. Henry G. Burt Air Service Corps, 12th Co. 3rd Regt. A.S.M., with original period photographs in Mexico and European theater including many good aerial air service related photographs, i.e. planes, hangers, equipment, crashes, as well as marching band images. Album further includes five theater made wool and silk embroidered shoulder insignia including a spectacular example of the 34th Red Bull Division Infantry patch as designed by noted Iowa artist and WWI veteran Marvin Cone (1891-1965). Additionally, album filled with ephemera related to Cpl. Burt's European service with the First Air Service Band including programs, menus, invitations, as well as associated American/French travel papers. Lot further includes an Ellington Field "Ellington 1918" unit history depicting directory of officers and airmen who trained and earned their wings at Ellington, Texas. A spectacular treasure trove.
