A GREEK OR ARMENIAN ORTHODOX GILDED BLESSING CROSS, 19TH CENTURY.  The solid spindle handle holding a quatrefoil fan with central sunburst medallion depicting on one side the crucified Christ against the city wall of Jerusalem and the terminating ends with the Four Evangelists. The other side with the resurrection at center flanked by a Roman soldier and John the Baptist. At top God the Father and immediately below a dove (sign of the Holy Spirit) and at the central bottom the crucifixion again repeated. Presumably gilded silver although unmarked. Length 6.25 inches (16 cm).
