A RUSSIAN BOOK OF GOSPELS, KIEV PECHERSK LAVRA, DATED 1882. With velvet covered boards, the front cover set with a gilt relief plaque of the resurrected Christ within an oval cartouche, set on an eight pointed star. The corners with similarly modeled plaques depicting the four Evangelists, the back cover also set with corner decorative elements and at center a glory (eight pointed star), the cross with implements of the Passion, and with velvet covered leather strap type latches. 11.4 inches x 8.75 inches (28.5 x 22.5 cm).
