A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN PRESENTATION ICON COMMEMORATING THE ASSASSINATION OF TSAR ALEXANDER II, MARCH 13, 1881. The large incised gilt panel depicting an image of Christ delivering a blessing at top center, and immediately below, an image of the Holy Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky, and on the left, the Holy Apostle Arkhipp, on the right, the Holy Venerable Martyr Evdokia. In the lower margin within a rectangular cartouche, a dedicatory inscription from the peasants of the village of Nepetsino, Kolomensk District, Commemorating the Martyrdom of His Imperial Majesty Alexander II, 1881, Month of March, 13th day. 21 inches x 17.75 inches (53.5 x 45 cm).
