Brothers Cyril and Methodiy (Methodious) were 9th century Greek missionaries credited with standardizing the language used in translating the Bible, developing an alphabet that would later bear the name Cyrillic (after Cyril). Along with Prince Saint Vladimir, who by edict converted all of Kieven Rus to Christianiry in their 988, they too were given the title Equal-to-the-Apostales.
