CIVIL WAR PHOTOGRAPH & LETTER GROUPING. A good Civil War composite grouping comprising seven period photographic images including a 1/6 plate tin type depicting two seated union soldiers (half case), a 1/6 plate ambrotype of seated soldier (Union/Confederate?), a 1/9 plate tintype of Union soldier, another 1/9 plate tintype of a Union soldier, a tinted 1/9 plate ambrotype of a Union soldier, a CDV of a Union officer, identified on verso as Theodore Racek and with photographers backstamp of T.M. Schleier’s, Nashville, Tenn, a CDV size photogravure of Col. Edwin W. Hinks, a CDV signed Col. William Spencer and verso with St. Mary’s Ohio photographers backstamp. Together with nine (9) handwritten war period soldiers letters all addressed to a Miss Martha J. Algood, Oskalosa Iowa, and by different admirers. Seven of the letters come in original stamped envelope. They appear to be written by three separate authors, Washington Glass, W. Hank Smith and another indistinguishable, and most in ink. All war dated, writing from Little Rock, Arkansas, Jackson, Mississippi, and Paducah, Kentucky. Typical letters some better than others. Lot further includes a Union brass breast plate, 2.5 inches in diameter.
