A RUSSIAN ICON OF SELECTED SAINTS, CIRCA 1800. At center Saint Peter Metropolitan of Moscow holds a book of Gospels while delivering a blessing. To his right the venerable Peligia and on the right the Venerable Martyr Paraskeva who holds her hands in a blessing style in the manner favored by the Old Believers. At top center two angels of the Lord hold the Holy Visage. Overlaid with an ornate silver-gilt, repousse and chased riza with applied haloes and cobalt blue enamel title plaques with gilt lettering. Riza hallmarked Moscow, dated 1829, Cyrillic makers mark M.I. and 84 standard. 14 inches x 12 inches (35.5cm x 30.5cm).
