A MASSIVE RUSSIAN SILVER SUGAR BOWL, SAZIKOV, ST. PETERSBURG 1863. The squatty ovoid form resting on a slightly flared rim the sides chased with strapwork and raised medallions and rosettes. The rim chased with a stylized Cyrillic inscription, 'This silver sugar bowl was made by the firm of Sazikov'. The cone shaped fitted lid similarly decorated as the body and with spherical finial and the interior brightly gilded. Base hallmarked St. Petersburg, dated 1863, and in Cyrillic SAZIKOV beneath the Imperial Warrant and 84 silver standard. Height 8.25 inches (21cm). Gross weight 16.27 troy ounces (506 grams).
