A VERY FINE MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF CATHERINE THE GREAT, RUSSIAN SCHOOL, PROBABLY 18TH CENTURY. After the painting by Dmitriy Levitskiy (1735-1822). Depicted in a white silk dress with red trim and ermine cloak and with a laurel wreath resting upon her upswept powdered hair falling over her shoulders and wearing the chain of the Order of St. Andrew and the sash and star of the Russian Order of Saint George. Watercolor on ivory set in a vermeil oval pendant frame encircled with paste stones with crown finial and suspension loop on verso with folding strut stand. Height 4.25 inches (11cm)
