A RUSSIAN GILT BRONZE AND MALACHITE DESK SET, 19TH CENTURY. The oval malachite base resting in a gilt bronze oval frame set on four paw feet and with open rail. In the center atop a fluted column a gilt bronze bust of Tsar Alexander I and on either side matching inkwells of classical urn form banded with palmettos and resting on claw and ball feet and with hinged lids. Height 9 inches (23 cm), width 13 inches (33 cm).
