A RUSSIAN ICON OF AN ARCHANGEL MIKHAIL, 18TH CENTURY. This icon echoes the famous and well-known 12th century image of the Archangel Gabriel of the Golden Hair, housed in Russian Museum, St. Petersburg Russia. Such icons were often part of a three piece icon grouping which displayed Christ Emanuel at center flanked by bust images of the Archangels Mikhail and Gabriel. Verso with old inscription-АРХАНГЕЛ МИХАИЛ-the Archangel Mikhail. 12' x 10.25' (31cm x 26cm).
