A STAINED AND LEADED GLASS WINDOW TONDO, 19TH CENTURY. Depicting a mother pelican plucking her breast, with her offspring below. Diameter 27.25 inches (69 cm). Estimate $400-$600. The image of a mother pelican plucking her breast, to produce blood in which to feed her offspring, is an ancient symbol of the Church, which selflessly gives of herself so as to nourish its members both spiritually and sacramentally.
