A PAIR OF LARGE RUSSIAN ICONS OF THE APOSTLES ST. JAMES AND BARTHOLOMEW, 18TH CENTURY. Such icons are usually associated with the local or main tier of an iconostasis, considering their inward turning attitude of prayer, one can assume that the icon of St. James (YAKOV) once held a spot on the left side and that of Bartholomew on the right. They are identified by the inscriptions above their heads as, The Holy Apostle James (left) and the Holy Apostle Bartholomew (right). 25.75 inches x 23 inches (65.5 x 58.5 cm)
