AN ITALIAN BAROQUE CARVED WOOD CASSONE, 17TH CENTURY. With elongated front panel frieze deeply carved in a scene of six winged cherubs supporting a foliate and fruit garland swag with central scrolled cartouche flanked by extending figural carved grotesque masks raised on a shaped base supported by figural recumbent lion feet. Losses and early restorations. Height 20.25 inches (51.3 cm), width 51.5 inches (129.6 cm), depth 19 inches (48.2 cm).
