AN IMPRESSIVE JAPANESE ROCK CRYSTAL AND SHIBAYAMA CARVED IVORY MODEL OF A TEMPLE LION, MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912).  Modeled in standing form supporting a rock crystal ball on a carved peony stand, the saddle cloth and beast inlaid in mother of pearl, coral and hardstone foliates with translucent amber pendant tassels. Total height 10.875 inches (27.5 cm), the crystal 3.75 inches in diameter (9.5 cm).
