A VERY FINE SPANISH RENAISSANCE WALNUT AND LIMOGES ENAMELED VERGUENO, 17TH CENTURY AND LATER. The carved drop front writing chest mounted with reticulated wrought iron medallions opening to reveal an interior containing 15 drawers and two doors, each faced with finely executed 19th century Limoges enameled panels depicting the Life and Passion of Christ, and each set within finely carved Gothic style surrounds with the largest Limoges enameled panel measuring 4.75 inches x 8 inches (12 x 20.4cm). The chest resting on a tall carved wood trestle base with nine twisted columns rising from two bracket feet. The exterior further decorated with wrought iron handles, wrought iron rosettes and lock plate. Height 60.25 inches (153 cm), width 42.5 inches (108 cm), depth 17.5 inches (44.5 cm).
