A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN PRESENTATION ICON TRIPTYCH, DATED 1893. Held in a substantial gilt bronze hinged frame, the central panel displaying the descent into Hades beneath an ogee arch with a reserve set with an ornate reticulated strapwork and cross form, the hinged left wing with Saints Andrei and Natalia beneath an icon of the Tikhvin Mother of God, and the right wing with Saints Vera and Nicholas beneath an icon of the Feodorovskaya Mother of God. When closed, verso of wings come together to form eight sided cross, and verso of central panel with suspension loop and engraved with dedicatory inscription dated December 6th, 1893. Width 18.5 inches (47 cm), height 13.75 inches (35 cm).
