A RARE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN GOLD & ENAMEL SASH BADGE OF THE ORDER OF SAINT ANDREW THE FIRST CALLED, EDUARD, ST. PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1896-1904.  The front depicting a St. Andrew’s cross upon which Andrew is crucified.  The cross ends terminating with the Latin letters SAPR abbreviating ST. ANDREW PATRON OF RUSSIA and set upon a gold with black enamel Imperial double headed eagle with chased feathering and enameled eyes and crowns. The verso similarly enameled and chased and from the beaks of the eagle's head an enameled banner emblazoned with the motto of the order, За веру и верность - FOR FAITH & LOYALTY. The entire device suspended from a blue enameled ribbon flowing from beneath an enameled crown with suspension hooks on verso. The left foot of eagle hallmarked St. Petersburg, 56 gold standard, and in Cyrillic Eduard. The suspension loop on verso similarly marked as well as verso of cross end. Light handling wear and some very minor enamel loss. Length 92 mm. Width 70mm.
