AN IMPERIAL RUSSIAN PERIOD PATTERN 1909 OFFICER'S PARADE HELMET OF HER IMPERIAL MAJESTY EMPRESS MARIA FEODOROVNA’S LIFE-GUARD’S CHEVALIER GUARD CUIRASSIER REGIMENT. The polished tompac body with sloped front visor and lobster-tail rear visor, trimmed in nickel-silver brass. Front mounted with enameled star of St. Andrew the First Called with the motto in gilt letters set on a translucent blue enameled field over and engine-turned ground, For Faith and Loyalty. Surmounted with a silvered service "flaming grenade" finial with white horse hair plume. The round silvered side cockade painted in Romanov colors, silver-plated brass leather-backed chin scales, rear visor lined in red "curtain" type velvet. The front peak lined in black velvet with brown leather sweatband and red moire silk lining. The rim stamped 54 next to the Imperial Warrant and the top of helmet underneath plumed spike with the Cyrillic letter "B" next to the Imperial Warrant and stamped 55. 13 inches (33 cm).
