AN EXCEPTIONAL RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT SHADED AND ENAMELED CIGARETTE CASE, VASILIY AGAFONOV, MOSCOW, 1899-1908. The front of the hinged lid with an ornate shaded enameled floral cartouche on a stippled gilt ground and with masterfully painted en pleine scene of a boat on calm waters. The opposite hinged lid with shaded enamel floral designs also on a stippled gilt ground. Hallmarked Moscow, 1899-1908 and Cyrillic maker's mark "V.A," and with 84 silver standard. Length 3.25 inches (9.5 cm).
